Over the last couple weeks I've been thinking about finding the right balance between pushing & letting go.
I've noticed that when I place an excessive amount of my focus & energy towards something that I want, it tends to create friction, stopping it from happening. Let me give you an example. The inherent insecurity of being a self-employed personal trainer has meant that there's been times where I've found myself pre-occupied with thoughts about getting more clients, growing my business, etc. Rational concerns to have no doubt. But, giving more energy those thoughts doesn't actually do me any favours.. it just holds me back. In those moments I'm coming from a place of fear & inadequacy, instead of a place of security & acceptance. And what I'm starting to realise is that when I'm living in more of a state of acceptance, the outcomes that I'm seeking come around naturally! This isn't me saying that you should never push to achieve something that you want. There has to be a degree of conscious effort & hard work to make progress at anything. But, excessive focus on what you want reinforces the self-created illusion that you're currently lacking something. So, of course, get clear on what you want. But, if you want to actually experience it, you first have to be willing to loosen your grip on life! Christian |
